Тип записи:Публикация, Functional Nanostructured Carbon Honeycomb Monoliths for Hemoadsorption: Preliminary Studies on Biocompatibility, Protein-Bound Uremic Toxins and Inflammatory Cytokines Elimination(Multidisciplinary Digital Publishing Institute, 2026-09-07) ;Jakpar Jandosov ;Carol Angela Howell ;Susan R. Sandeman ;D. ChenchikSergey V. MikhalovskyRice husk (RH) is a renewable siliceous lignocellulosic waste providing a unique, greener and less toxic alternative to conventional synthetic polymeric precursors in the production of carbon-based materials for biomedical applications. In this work we studied the porous structure of RH-lignin-based activated carbon produced in the form of honeycomb carbon monoliths and assessed their potential as hemoadsorbents for blood purification in the treatment of patients with serious medical conditions, such as kidney failure and sepsis. To determine their clinical suitability for such an application, the hemocompatibility and cytotoxicity of the monoliths were investigated using the standard ISO guidelines. The monoliths did not cause any changes in the cell viability or cell lysis. High micro/mesoporosity and surface chemistry of the initial monolith-C, N- and P-doped nanostructured carbon honeycomb monoliths were established by low-temperature nitrogen adsorption (LTNA) studies, mercury porosimetry data (MIP), SEM/EDS analysis and FT-IR spectroscopy. The micro-mesoporous, activated carbon-based filtration/adsorbent prototype devices, in the form of three-dimensional (3D) carbon matrix, functionalized with ion-exchange amino- and phosphate groups and encased in polyolefin heat shrink cable sleeve, have been developed with the capacity to remove protein-bound uremic toxins (PBUTs), such us PCS and IS, as well as inflammatory cytokines (IL-6 and IL-8) from human plasma in a flowing model system. The ammoxidized monolith-N, derived from the monolith-C, had the highest removal efficiency (40.05% for PCS, and 28.4% for IL-6). By contrast, phosphorylated monolith-P demonstrated the highest removal efficiency (54.62% for IS, and 54.4% for IL-8), whilst the monolith-C has the lowest removal efficiency for these adsorbates. These results do not correlate with the LTNA and MIP study results, suggesting that the interaction of surface chemical functional groups with the solutes play key roles in the adsorption mechanism. The ion-exchange mechanism of PBUTs and inflammatory cytokine chemisorption by the monoliths, modified with surface N- and P-containing functional groups, has been proposed. - Некоторые метрики заблокированы вашиминастройками согласия
Тип записи:Публикация, Novel Spinel Li–Cr Nano-Ferrites: Structure, Morphology, and Electrical/Dielectric Properties(Multidisciplinary Digital Publishing Institute, 2025-10-26); ; ; ; This article reports on the synthesis and physicochemical characterization of a novel complex ferrite material, LiCr3.4Fe1.6O8, prepared via the sol-gel method. X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis confirmed that the synthesized compound is a single-phase material with a spinel-type structure and cubic symmetry. Raman spectroscopy was employed to investigate the vibrational modes, and the observed peaks corresponding to Fe–O and Cr–O bonds further validated the spinel-like structure of the compound. The microstructure and elemental composition were examined using scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Multiple regions of the LiCr3.4Fe1.6O8 crystals were analyzed, revealing a homogeneous phase and providing detailed insight into the morphology and chemical composition of the surface. The synthesized ferrite particles exhibited relatively large dimensions, with sizes measured at approximately 5, 30, 100, and 200 μm. The dielectric behavior was studied to assess the material’s response to an external electric field, demonstrating its capacity for electric charge polarization. Both capacitance and electrical conductivity were found to increase with rising temperature. Electrophysical measurements were conducted using the LCR-800 system over a temperature range of 293–483 K and at frequencies of 1.5 kHz and 10 kHz. An increase in frequency to 10 kHz resulted in a decrease in the dielectric constant (ε) across the entire temperature range.Цитирования (OpenAlex) 3Цитирования (OpenCitations) 1 - Некоторые метрики заблокированы вашиминастройками согласия
Тип записи:Публикация, Iodine-Based Coordination Compounds: A Strategy Toward Antibiotic Potentiation(Multidisciplinary Digital Publishing Institute, 2026-05-12) ;Daniil Shepilov ;Dana A. Askarova ;Anar Seisembekova; Ardak B. JumagaziyevaDue to the increasing threat of antibiotic resistance and the emergence of new pathogenic strains, the development of effective combined therapeutic agents represents a crucial direction in the fight against infections. Within this study, several compounds were synthesized in which iodine is present in a coordination complex with antibiotics—sodium sulfadimidine and gentamicin sulfate. The physicochemical parameters of these compounds were investigated using capillary electrophoresis and UV spectroscopy, along with their cytotoxicity, antimicrobial, and antiviral activities. As a result of this work, two stable compounds, KC-246 and KC-248, were synthesized, demonstrating virus-inhibitory activity against herpes simplex virus and influenza A under extremely low cytotoxicity levels of 0.018–0.106 mg/mL. Additionally, they exhibited antimicrobial activity against representatives of the families Staphylococcaceae, Pseudomonadaceae, Enterobacteriaceae, Enterococcaceae, and yeast-like fungi. The minimum bactericidal concentrations (MBCs) ranged from 0.794 µg/mL to 0.198 µg/mL (KC-246) and from 2.093 µg/mL to 0.523 µg/mL (KC-248).Цитирования (OpenAlex) 2 - Некоторые метрики заблокированы вашиминастройками согласия

Тип записи:Публикация, Perovskite Manganites: An Overview of Synthesis, Classification, Characterization, and Applications(Multidisciplinary Digital Publishing Institute, 2026-06-24); ; ; ; Perovskite manganites (AMnO3) and perovskite-like manganites (A′1−xAxMnO3) are complex oxide materials that have attracted significant attention from the scientific community in recent years due to their structural flexibility, mixed-valence state, tunable electronic configuration, and multifunctional properties. This review systematically analyzes the synthesis methods, structural classification, and physicochemical characterization of perovskite manganites, as well as their magnetic, optical, electrical, dielectric, and catalytic properties. The influence of solid-state reactions, sol–gel, Pechini, hydrothermal, co-precipitation, microwave, and other mild chemical approaches on phase purity, morphology, particle size, and oxygen stoichiometry was examined. The structural diversity of perovskite and perovskite-like manganites, including simple ABO3, double perovskites, multilayer, and low-dimensional systems, was characterized in relation to their functional properties. The review discussed the capabilities of methods for synthesizing and analyzing morphological properties, demonstrating the role of doping, cation substitution, oxygen vacancies, and Jahn–Teller distortions in controlling material properties. Prospects for the application of perovskite manganites in spintronics, magnetocaloric cooling, photocatalysis, gas-sensing devices, and energy conversion and storage systems were analyzed. This review highlights the structure–property–application relationship in perovskite manganites.Цитирования (OpenAlex) 2 - Некоторые метрики заблокированы вашиминастройками согласия
Тип записи:Публикация, Phosphonamidates Integrating Sterically Hindered Phenols with Membrane-Active Cations: A Redox-Activated Approach to Antimicrobial Agents(Multidisciplinary Digital Publishing Institute, 2026-05-18) ;Elmira Gibadullina ;Adel Shakirov ;Margarita Neganova ;Yulia AleksandrovaAlexandra VoloshinaA strategy to create highly effective antimicrobial agents was proposed based on the conjugation of three functional components: a cationic quaternary ammonium salt (QAS) that exerts a membrane-disrupting effect and promotes selective accumulation on bacterial surfaces; a phosphonamidate linker for controlled activation; and a sterically hindered phenol (SHP) fragment as a potential redox component. This approach enabled the preparation of 40 target phosphonamidate–SHP/QAS hybrids in high yields (88–98%). Evaluation of their antimicrobial activity against major pathogens and methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) revealed high potency against Gram-positive bacteria. The lead compounds achieved minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) values of 0.7–2.8 μM, which is up to 10 times lower than that of the reference drug, norfloxacin. Mechanistic studies confirmed that these hybrids disrupt the bacterial membrane. In addition, an increase in intracellular ROS levels was observed for the most active compound. The SHP/QAS hybrids retained high activity against S. aureus ATCC 209P after 17 passages and showed low cytotoxicity (SI = 62–92) and negligible hemolysis. These properties indicate that this approach may offer a useful strategy for developing antibacterial agents with a potentially lower risk of inducing conventional resistance mechanisms. - Некоторые метрики заблокированы вашиминастройками согласия
Тип записи:Публикация, Synthesis of Biomass-Derived Graphene Nanomaterials by Chemical Activation with KOH(Multidisciplinary Digital Publishing Institute, 2025-11-21) ;Makpal Seitzhanova; ; ;Lyaila TugelbayevaЖандос Турегулович ТауановThis work introduces an environmentally sustainable and cost-effective strategy for synthesizing graphene nanomaterials from agricultural residues—walnut shells and apricot stones. The synthesis pathway combines desilication, controlled pre-carbonization, chemical activation with KOH, and mild exfoliation to produce few-layer graphene with a high degree of structural order. The process, conducted at 523–573 K for pre-carbonization and 1123 K for activation, enables the formation of graphene sheets with a specific surface area of approximately 1300 m2/g, carbon content of 80–90%, and average pore diameter below 100 nm. The materials were comprehensively characterized using SEM, TEM, Raman spectroscopy, and BET analysis. Raman spectra revealed an IG/I2D ratio of ~1.5–2 a.u., confirming the presence of 4–5 graphene layers. Compared to conventional biomass-derived graphene routes, the developed approach ensures enhanced porosity, higher graphitic ordering, and improved purity, demonstrating its strong potential for energy storage, adsorptive purification, and environmentally benign nanotechnology applications.Цитирования (OpenAlex) 8Цитирования (OpenCitations) 1
