    Magnetic fields play a central role in black hole astrophysics, powering relativistic jets and other energetic phenomena. While near-horizon magnetic field is usually assumed to originate from the accretion flow, additional large-scale magnetic fields - such as those supplied by a companion neutron star in stellar-mass binaries or by galactic fields around supermassive black holes - may also affect the horizon-threading flux. In this work, we study the superposition of a weak arbitrarily inclined external uniform magnetic field with the internal Blandford-Znajek split-monopole field around a Schwarzschild black hole. This setup generically gives rise to magnetic null points, where the total field vanishes. We compute the magnetic flux through an arbitrarily tilted hemisphere of the event horizon and show that the flux can be substantially suppressed by the external field. In the axisymmetric case, the flux can even vanish completely. However, with nonzero inclination, complete cancellation becomes impossible, despite significant reduction. We further explore the ionization and subsequent particle acceleration from a Keplerian accretion disk, finding that efficient collimated outflows persist even under significant field inclination. We show that the acceleration is critically dependent on the external field orientation, with the escape fraction maximized at non-zero inclinations due to the destabilization of trapping zones and minimized in the anti-aligned configuration, where closed magnetic loops effectively suppress the outflow. We discuss the astrophysical implications of these findings, proposing that geometric flux cancellation can serve as a mechanism for jet quenching in compact binaries and offering an explanation for the lack of a prominent large-scale jet in Sgr A*.

    Understanding Barriers and Supports for Women’s Progression in STEM in Kazakhstan
    (2025-01-01)
    Abstract Based on the theoretical taxonomy of supports and barriers and Social Cognitive Career theory, this chapter contributes to the existing literature on STEM women’s pathways by qualitatively examining environmental supports and barriers that girls and women experience in all developmental stages, from childhood to professional life. The overarching purpose of this chapter is to synthesize and summarize the multidimensional barriers that affect, impede, or prevent girls and women from choosing STEM educational/career trajectories and the supports that facilitate their advancement and retention in STEM career trajectories across three developmental stages: childhood, adolescence (high school and university study), and adulthood (professional life). A core finding from this study is that women are strongly dependent on external social agents, such as parents, teachers, peers, employers, and spouses, in all developmental stages, who can play a dual role, either supporting the girls’ and young women’s interest in STEM and providing mentorship or discouraging them from being engaged with STEM.

    This study presents a hierarchical Swin Transformer–based framework for automated segmentation of cerebrovascular structures using multimodal magnetic resonance imaging. The proposed architecture integrates patch partitioning, linear embedding, hierarchical windowed self-attention, and a multilevel encoder–decoder design to address the inherent challenges of vascular segmentation, including irregular morphology, small-caliber vessel visibility, and intensity variability across MRI modalities. A multimodal fusion module enhances the ability to capture complementary anatomical and vascular information, while skip-connected decoding ensures the preservation of fine-grained spatial features essential for accurate vessel reconstruction. The model was evaluated using a combination of open-access datasets and demonstrated superior performance across multiple quantitative metrics, achieving higher Dice similarity, precision, sensitivity, and specificity compared to existing state-of-the-art methods. Qualitative analysis further revealed accurate recovery of major arterial pathways, distal branches, and complex vascular topologies, confirming the model’s robustness in both global and localized segmentation tasks. The results highlight the discriminative strength of hierarchical attention mechanisms and emphasize their role in improving cerebrovascular characterization. Overall, the proposed framework offers a reliable and anatomically coherent approach for vascular segmentation, with strong potential for integration into clinical neuroimaging workflows and advanced cerebrovascular research applications.

    This study explores the role of innovative technologies in supporting the autonomous development of information culture among adolescents with visual impairments—a population that frequently encounters limited access to digital literacy resources. The aim of the research was to evaluate the extent to which such technologies, particularly those incorporating artificial intelligence, contribute to the development of information literacy, critical thinking, and learner autonomy within this group. A total of 116 adolescents with varying degrees of visual impairment were divided into two groups: experimental and control. The experimental group engaged with adaptive AI-based educational tools, while the control group followed conventional instructional methods. ANOVA was employed to assess differences between groups, revealing that the experimental group significantly outperformed the control group: mean scores in information literacy were 78.3 versus 59.2, critical thinking skills reached 74.5 compared to 55, and learner autonomy was rated at 4.2 out of 5 versus 3.1. These findings underscore the potential of innovative technologies to foster a more inclusive and effective learning environment for adolescents with visual impairments.

    This paper studies the method of lines for solving loaded parabolic equations and provides a theoretical analysis of its convergence, stability, and error estimates. The spatial discretization reduces the original equation to a system of loaded ordinary differential equations solved by the Dzhumabaev parameterization method. Sufficient conditions for the existence and uniqueness of the solution are established, and it is proved that the method achieves second-order accuracy in space and stable convergence. A numerical example confirms the efficiency and reliability of the proposed approach.

    Political Strategies in the Gulf Cooporation Council (GCC) Countries in the Face of Declining Oil Demand: Critical Risks and Solutions
    (L. N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University, 2025-01-01)

    ;
    The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries have long been heavily reliant on oil revenues to fuel their economies and facilitate political stability. However, the global transition towards renewable energy, combined with fluctuating oil prices and the global push to mitigate climate change, poses a significant challenge to the traditional oil-dependent economies of the Gulf region. This research explores the political strategies that GCC states are adopting in response to the declining demand for oil and the strategic risks associated with these changes. We identify key political risks such as economic diversification challenges, political instability, unemployment, and the potential for social unrest. Furthermore, the paper examines the shift in governance, state-society relations, and international diplomacy as a response to these risks. By analyzing policy adaptations, such as Vision 2030 in Saudi Arabia, the UAE’s diversification efforts, and Qatar’s shift towards non-hydrocarbon sectors, this paper evaluates the effectiveness of these strategies in mitigating the risks of oil demand reduction. We also discuss the role of regional collaboration and the potential for GCC countries to adopt a more integrated approach to economic diversification. The research concludes by proposing a set of political and economic solutions to help GCC countries reduce their dependency on oil, enhance governance frameworks, and increase regional collaboration to ensure long-term stability and sustainable development.

    This article explores the impact of television on children's language development and analyzes linguistic shortcomings observed in television programs. To identify the main issues, the authors conducted a large-scale survey covering all regions of the Republic of Kazakhstan and analyzed the results comprehensively. Based on the respondents' answers, the study identified the main challenges in language development and drew conclusions based on scientific approaches. The survey addressed several aspects: the influence of the language used in children's television programs on their speech development, the level of children's proficiency in the Kazakh language, the conformity of media language with linguistic norms, common language deviations in children's speech, and the amount of screen time. The findings demonstrate the need to enhance mechanisms aimed at preserving linguistic norms and fostering a generation fluent in the Kazakh language, especially in the context of growing influence from television and internet media. A total of 622 individuals participated in the survey. The sociolinguistic analysis of the collected data made it possible to track the dynamics of lexical deviations in children's language use. The study, which covered various demographic and geographical groups, revealed how social factors – particularly television dependence – affect lexical changes in children's speech. The research confirms the critical role of parents in laying the foundation of the native (Kazakh) language and highlights the significant influence of the surrounding environment, especially television, on children’s adherence to linguistic norms. The survey was conducted in Kazakh using open-ended questions, and data collection spanned three months. The article analyzes the impact of television and gadgets on children's language development and provides recommendations for implementing public initiatives in the cultural and linguistic direction.
