    This study investigates the influence of Latin-origin words in the Kazakh and English languages, focusing on terms related to "experience" and "problems." The research analyzes the etymology, modern usage, and challenges arising from the incorporation of these terms into Kazakh, a non-Latin script language. The study highlights the role of Latin-derived vocabulary in modern scientific, technological, and academic discourse, and the unique linguistic and cultural challenges it presents in Kazakh. A comparative analysis of the Kazakh and English terms for "experience" and "problems" is provided, emphasizing the nuances of meaning, connotation, and cultural differences in their use. The study also discusses the tension between modernization and linguistic purity in Kazakh, considering the impact of globalization on native language development. The relevance of this research lies in the growing significance of Latin-derived terminology in non-Latin script languages, particularly in the context of globalization. The study explores how Latin-origin words are both shaped by and reshape the cultural and linguistic landscape in Kazakh and English, contributing to the ongoing discourse on language standardization, bilingual education, and cultural preservation in the face of globalization. The findings underscore the complex interplay of language, culture, and global interconnectedness, presenting implications for future linguistic policy and language planning, especially within multilingual societies.

    Zeki Kaymaz
    This article deals with the historical and etymological aspects of the names of water bodies of the Zhetysu region, namely, the ancient Turkic beginning of the names. The study of the etymological content of ancient Turkic names allows a deep understanding of the worldview, the degree of education of people of the period under study. The purpose of the article is to study the foundations of education of the population through an etymological analysis of the archischeme of names, the understanding of the meanings of which, at the present stage, causes difficulties due to structural, sound changes (Lavar, Labasy, etc.), to show the structural specifics of the names. The leading idea of the study is to identify the reasons why the names of water bodies, which are the oldest and most stable layer of toponomics, reflect the main points of life, as well as the history of the development of the Kazakh people. The introductory part presents information that reveals the continuity of language and culture in accordance with anthropolinguistic studies, based on the analysis of studies of deep meaningful linguistic layers that bear the imprints of different periods of national culture. The use of methods of linguistic research of the topological space made it possible to reflect in the article the identified ethno-cultural semantics underlying the ancient hydronyms. The main results were obtained based on the analysis of the names of specific bodies of water that have appeared since time immemorial. The scientific value of the study lies in the significance of the results obtained for research in the field of ethnolinguistics, linguoculturology, etc. In addition, the data obtained may be of factual interest for compilers of dictionaries, texts in the field of linguoculturology, ethnolinguistics.

    Lexico-semantic features of cultural scriptonyms (based on local ritual ceremonies)
    (Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, 2025-03-28) ;
    The article discusses the lexical and semantic features of scriptonyms in the cultural code, which are formed on the basis local ritual ceremonies.The study aims to analyze the lexical and semantic specificity of secondary-meaning scriptonyms that originate from regional ritual ceremonies. Information related to regional procedures is transformed into linguo-cultural codes, aiding in the identification of the uniqueness of regional ethno-linguistic consciousness and the decryption of encoded information within these codes. This demonstrates the originality of our research. The scientific significance of the research lies in separately considering linguistic units (scriptonyms) formed on the basis of local rituals. To identify the diatopic (local) variants of scriptonyms, the article compared and studied the rituals and sacred names that originating from four regions of Kazakhstan: South, East, West, and Central Kazakhstan. It was found that the depiction of the universe in a regional language is influenced by the characteristics of the geographical area, the customs of the people, and the mutual cultural influences of ethnic groups. The scriptonyms, linguocultural, and conceptual concepts formed based on local ritual ceremonies analyzed in the research can serve to elucidate the etymology of native words in the Kazakh language and aid in the development of dialectological dictionaries. This demonstrates the value and practical significance of the study. Through the research: the relationships and distinctions between the concepts of tradition, customs, and ritual ceremonies were delineated; the term “code” was examined from a linguocultural perspective; ritual ceremonies were explored as a pivotal source in shaping cultural codes (scriptonyms) with substantial informational influence; and the characteristics of regional ethno-linguistic consciousness were elucidated through the analysis of scriptonyms derived from local ritual ceremonies.The article employs qualitative analysis, including content analysis, to examine and reveal the etymology of the linguistic units of the sacred code that have developed in relation to rituals. Keywords: scriptonyms, linguo-cultural codes, ritual ceremonies, rites, traditions and customs, sacred names, language codes, ethno-linguistic consciousness.

    A Comparative Study of Kazakh and English Cosmonyms: Linguistic, Cultural, and Epistemological Insights
    (2025-10-15) ; ; ; ;
    S. Yessimkulova
    This article presents a comparative analysis of cosmonyms in the Kazakh and English languages, focusing on the linguistic, cultural, and cosmological frameworks that inform the naming of celestial bodies. Drawing from a wide range of linguistic and cultural sources, the study illustrates how celestial terms—such as the Crowning Stars—encode distinct cosmological worldviews, spiritual beliefs, and historical contexts. The analysis is structured around the formation processes of cosmonyms: in Kazakh, where compounding is a dominant mechanism, and in English, where naming practices are shaped by Latin and Greek etymology, scientific rationalism, and mythological heritage. While English celestial nomenclature has largely become standardized internationally, Kazakh cosmonyms reflect a dynamic interplay of traditional knowledge, Soviet linguistic influence, and contemporary efforts to revive and preserve cultural identity. The findings demonstrate both the universality of humanity's fascination with the cosmos and the uniqueness of local traditions in articulating that fascination. By examining the convergence of scientific and cultural perspectives, the study emphasizes how cosmonyms serve as bridges between rational knowledge and symbolic imagination. Through this comparison, the article highlights the critical importance of recognizing cultural diversity in celestial naming practices and advocates for inclusive, multilingual approaches to space exploration. This research contributes to the fields of linguistic anthropology and cosmology, offering deeper insights into how language and culture mediate humanity's conceptualization of space. It also lays a foundation for further interdisciplinary exploration at the intersection of language, mythology, and science.

    Methodology for analyzing onomastic units in the works of contemporary Russian-speaking Kazakhstani writers for developing students’ linguistic competence: a case study approach
    The article is devoted to the development and testing of a methodology for analyzing onomastic units in the works of contemporary Russian-speaking Kazakhstani writers using a case-study approach.The study is based on the texts of I.Odegov, Y.Tursunov, R.Seisenbayev, and other authors whose works are rich in onomastic material, including anthroponyms, toponyms, ethnonyms, and institutional names that reflect the multilayered cultural and linguistic environment of Kazakhstan. The methodology is implemented through a series of cases, each of which includes the identification of onomastic units, an etymological and cultural commentary, and an analysis of their functions in the text (nominative, symbolic, cultural, and aesthetic). Practical work with students has shown that this format promotes the development of analytical thinking, the formation of intercultural competence, and the improvement of translation skills.The article discusses the advantages and limitations of the method: the high level of interactivity and depth of analysis are combined with the complexity of preparing cases and the need for a cultural and linguistic background. A comparison with traditional teaching methods shows that case studies provide greater engagement and critical thinking, but require additional resources and time. The results of the study confirm the effectiveness of onomastic analysis in the educational process.
