Тип записи:Публикация, Electrochemical Performance of Biomass-Derived AC and CNTs-Based Supercapacitors(IGI Global, 2024-11-22); ; ;Azamat TaurbekovZulkhair Aimukhametovich MansurovThis study investigates the electrochemical performance of activated carbon (AC) derived from two biomass sources, rice husk (RH) and walnut shell (WS), utilizing two activation methods: chemical activation with potassium hydroxide (KOH) and physical activation with carbon dioxide (CO2). The aim is to evaluate the potential of these bio-derived carbon materials in energy storage applications, particularly for supercapacitors. The electrochemical behavior of the activated carbon electrodes was assessed using cyclic voltammetry (CV) and galvanostatic charge-discharge (GCD) techniques, along with electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), to evaluate the specific capacitance, energy density, charge transfer resistance, and ion diffusion properties. - Некоторые метрики заблокированы вашиминастройками согласия
Тип записи:Публикация, Production and optimization of activated carbon from plant waste with high specific surface area for moisture-saving applications in agriculture(2024-10-20) ;Yerlan Doszhanov; ;Karina Saurykova ;Zulkhair Aimukhametovich MansurovIn conditions of water shortage, sustainable agricultural development requires the use of water-saving technologies, including the use of water-retaining substrates based on activated carbon. In this work, the textural and adsorption characteristics of activated carbon obtained from plant waste were studied at different mass ratios of the sorbent and KOH (1:1, 1:2, 1:3 and 1:4). The aim of the study was to determine the optimal activation conditions for creating a material with a high specific surface area and a developed porous structure. The results showed that the largest pore volume (1.6 cm3/g) and a high degree of microporosity are achieved at a ratio of 1:3, which is confirmed by the analysis of pore distribution using the DFT and BJH methods. FTIR spectroscopy revealed the presence of functional groups (O–H, C=O and C–O) that contribute to water conservation. The differential pore volume distribution (dv(r), cm3/Å/g) also demonstrated that at a ratio of sorbent and KOH (1:3), the sample structure optimally combines micropores and mesopores, which increases the adsorption capacity of carbon.Цитирования (OpenAlex) 1 - Некоторые метрики заблокированы вашиминастройками согласия
Тип записи:Публикация, Mechanism of Catalytic Thermal Decomposition of Ammonium Perchlorate in the Presence of Ti3C2Tx(2025-10-17) ;Zhanibek Korkembay ;Moldir Auyelkhankyzy; ;Zulkhair Aimukhametovich MansurovV. BykovThe thermal decomposition of ammonium perchlorate (AP) proceeds via a well-established stepwise mechanism. However, its catalytic decomposition under combustion conditions is not yet fully understood. This study investigates and clarifies the catalytic decomposition pathway of AP in the presence of Ti3C2Tx, a novel two-dimensional (2D) material with unique structural properties. MXene was chosen for its exceptional conductivity, large surface area, and layered architecture, which provide active sites for redox interactions and enhance the thermal decomposition rate of AP. During combustion of AP-based solid rocket propellants, MXene acts as a catalyst, promoting more complete and rapid oxidation reactions. The combustion products were thoroughly analyzed using X-ray phase analysis, and based on the obtained data, stoichiometric equations for the potential reaction pathways were proposed. These equations highlight the formation of metal oxides and intermediate chlorinated compounds. Furthermore, a schematic model illustrating the catalytic action of Ti3C2Tx was developed, showing the interaction between AP molecules and MXene’s surface functional groups. These findings advance understanding of nanocatalyst behavior in energetic materials and offer insights for improving solid-propellant performance via MXene incorporation.Цитирования (OpenAlex) 1 - Некоторые метрики заблокированы вашиминастройками согласия
Тип записи:Публикация, Advanced Techniques for Thorium Recovery from Mineral Deposits: A Comprehensive Review(Multidisciplinary Digital Publishing Institute, 2025-10-24); ;Bakhytzhan T. Lesbayev ;Сандугаш Кудайбергеновна Танирбергенова ;Zhanna AlsarAisultan KalybayThorium has emerged as a promising alternative to uranium in nuclear energy systems due to its higher natural abundance, favorable conversion to fissile 233U, and reduced generation of long-lived transuranic waste. This review provides a comprehensive overview of advanced techniques for thorium recovery from primary ores and secondary resources. The main mineralogical carriers—including monazite, thorianite, thorite, and cheralite as well as industrial by-products such as rare-earth processing tailings—are critically examined with respect to their occurrence and processing potential. Physical enrichment methods (gravity, magnetic, and electrostatic separation) and hydrometallurgical approaches (acidic and alkaline leaching) are analyzed in detail, highlighting their efficiencies, limitations, and environmental implications. Particular emphasis is placed on modern separation strategies such as solvent extraction with organophosphorus reagents, diglycolamides, and ionic liquids, as well as extraction chromatography, nanocomposite sorbents, ion-imprinted polymers, and electrosorption on carbon-based electrodes. These techniques demonstrate significant progress in enhancing selectivity, reducing reagent consumption, and enabling recovery from low-grade and secondary feedstocks. Environmental and radiological aspects, including waste minimization, immobilization, and regulatory frameworks, are discussed as integral components of sustainable thorium management. Finally, perspectives on hybrid technologies, digital process optimization, and economic feasibility are outlined, underscoring the need for interdisciplinary approaches that combine chemistry, materials science, and environmental engineering. Collectively, the analysis highlights the transition from conventional practices to integrated, scalable, and environmentally responsible technologies for thorium recovery.
О. ДосжановD. ChenchikThe article investigates the adsorption of diclofenac (pure API and as part of the Voltaren preparation) on porous carbon materials obtained from rice husks by chemical activation methods (H3PO4, K2CO3, KOH), as well as on synthetic carbon from xerogel. A comparative assessment of the sorption capacity and the kinetics of the process was carried out under static and dynamic conditions. It was found that the KOH-activated sample (SBET = 2610 m2/g) has the highest microporosity and demonstrates the maximum adsorption capacity (up to 956 mg/g in static and up to 1016 mg/g in a column with a fixed layer). Kinetic data is well described by a pseudo second-order model (R2 > 0.99), and dynamic adsorption is described by the Thomas model (R2 = 0.998). This allows us to predict the efficiency of sorbents in flow systems. There was no significant effect of the auxiliary components of the dosage form on the sorption process. The established patterns indicate the predominant interaction of the diclofenac molecule with the microporous carbon matrix through π–π interactions and electrostatic effects. The results obtained confirm the prospects of alkaline-activated carbon materials based on biomass for the development of effective enterosorbents for intoxication with nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. - Некоторые метрики заблокированы вашиминастройками согласия
Тип записи:Публикация, Functional Nanostructured Carbon Honeycomb Monoliths for Hemoadsorption: Preliminary Studies on Biocompatibility, Protein-Bound Uremic Toxins and Inflammatory Cytokines Elimination(Multidisciplinary Digital Publishing Institute, 2026-09-07) ;Jakpar Jandosov ;Carol Angela Howell ;Susan R. Sandeman ;D. ChenchikSergey V. MikhalovskyRice husk (RH) is a renewable siliceous lignocellulosic waste providing a unique, greener and less toxic alternative to conventional synthetic polymeric precursors in the production of carbon-based materials for biomedical applications. In this work we studied the porous structure of RH-lignin-based activated carbon produced in the form of honeycomb carbon monoliths and assessed their potential as hemoadsorbents for blood purification in the treatment of patients with serious medical conditions, such as kidney failure and sepsis. To determine their clinical suitability for such an application, the hemocompatibility and cytotoxicity of the monoliths were investigated using the standard ISO guidelines. The monoliths did not cause any changes in the cell viability or cell lysis. High micro/mesoporosity and surface chemistry of the initial monolith-C, N- and P-doped nanostructured carbon honeycomb monoliths were established by low-temperature nitrogen adsorption (LTNA) studies, mercury porosimetry data (MIP), SEM/EDS analysis and FT-IR spectroscopy. The micro-mesoporous, activated carbon-based filtration/adsorbent prototype devices, in the form of three-dimensional (3D) carbon matrix, functionalized with ion-exchange amino- and phosphate groups and encased in polyolefin heat shrink cable sleeve, have been developed with the capacity to remove protein-bound uremic toxins (PBUTs), such us PCS and IS, as well as inflammatory cytokines (IL-6 and IL-8) from human plasma in a flowing model system. The ammoxidized monolith-N, derived from the monolith-C, had the highest removal efficiency (40.05% for PCS, and 28.4% for IL-6). By contrast, phosphorylated monolith-P demonstrated the highest removal efficiency (54.62% for IS, and 54.4% for IL-8), whilst the monolith-C has the lowest removal efficiency for these adsorbates. These results do not correlate with the LTNA and MIP study results, suggesting that the interaction of surface chemical functional groups with the solutes play key roles in the adsorption mechanism. The ion-exchange mechanism of PBUTs and inflammatory cytokine chemisorption by the monoliths, modified with surface N- and P-containing functional groups, has been proposed.
