The article examines the modeling and design of a subsystem of fiber-optic sensors for the diagnosis and monitoring of the operability of mechanical structures in a differential system. In this study, the definition of the problem was developed by a mathematical model of the FBG using the transfer matrix method and using this method, a simulation model for the sensor was solved. The transfer matrix method makes it possible to assign spectral characteristics of optical components based on the theory of coupled modes and the matrix description of an electromagnetic wave passing through an optical fiber. The simulation is performed by solving the equations of coupled modes in MatLab (Simulink) using the transfer matrix method, which provides the basis for the relationship between the controlled modes. The method can take into account refractive index profiles of arbitrary shape and be implemented in a tool called MatLab (Simulink). As a result of the study, optimization was carried out, where light is shed on the effectiveness of the proposed scheme for analyzing deformation measurements, obtaining a linear response. It's inventory-friendly, fast, and open-source. The main contribution of the study is the developed simulation model of the subsystem for fiber Bragg sensors, which shows that the power of the side lobes is completely minimized in the Gaussian reflection spectra of FBG, and the results of MatLab (Simulink) are in excellent agreement with the results of the optical lattice. MatLab (Simulink) has a wide range of applications in modeling various optical fibers for various fields such as visualization, communication, material processing and remote sensing.

This article discusses distributed systems of fiber-optic sensors based on Bragg fiber gratings for monitoring and diagnosing the state of building structures, which allow periodic measurements and monitoring of the state of engineering structures, assess trends in their technical condition and thereby facilitate the identification of possible threats. The paper presents the results of experimental tests of an optoelectronic system of distributed fiber-optic sensors based on fiber Bragg gratings. The distribution of deformations has been estimated. The results of the study show that shape changes can be reliably detected using all installation methods and fiber optic sensors before significant cracking occurs in the cement.

Natural disasters, in particular earthquakes, can damage bridges, tunnels, dams, high-rise buildings, railways, oil platforms, buildings, and pipelines with catastrophic humanitarian, social, economic, and environmental consequences. Thus, automatic assessment of damage to industrial and civil construction structures after an earthquake in real-time or on request is necessary for early emergency response, effective preparation of rescue plans, and mitigation of these catastrophic consequences. The article presents the use of a system of distributed fiber-optic sensors based on Bragg fiber arrays, which will allow periodic measurements and monitoring of the condition of structures, assessing trends in its technical condition and thereby facilitating the identification of possible threats. The given research presents assembling and testing optoelectronic systems to record and process signals from fiber-optic sensors. The main optoelectronic systems to record and process the signals from fiber-optic sensors are light source controllers and optical power detectors. There was an assembled controller diagram, which apart from the light source includes the current source for its adequate operation, as well as the systems necessary for stabilizing its working point. The scheme was modeled for specifying nominal and maximum operation criteria. Construction has been designed in a way, that the light source controller includes structures of the current regulation and stabilization SLED (super luminescent diode) and temperature stabilization. Apart from that, there was assembled the microsystem of the optical power detector additionally to the light detector, which includes the microsystems of intensification and filtration of the signal measured, processing analog data into digital form, and microcontroller, used for preliminary data analysis. Data of optoelectronic systems diagram to record and process the signals from fiber-optic sensors has high response speed, low noise level, and sufficient progress. type your abstract here.

Currently, there is a high interest in smart sensors and integrated composite materials in various industries such as construction, aviation, automobile, medical, information technology, communication, and manufacturing. Here, a new conceptual design for a force and temperature sensor system is developed by integrating fiber optic Bragg grating sensors embedded within composite materials, and a mathematical model is proposed that allows one to estimate strain and temperature based on signals obtained from optical Bragg gratings. This is important for understanding the behaviors of sensors under different conditions and for creating effective monitoring systems. Describing the strain gradient distribution, especially considering different materials with different values of Young's modulus, provides insight into how different materials respond to applied forces and temperature changes. The shape of the strain gradient distribution was obtained, which is a quadratic function with a maximum value of 1500 µ, with a maximum value at the center of the lattice and a symmetrically decreasing strain value with distance from the central part of the fiber Bragg grating. With axial strain at the installation site of the Bragg grating sensor under applied force values ranging from 10 to 11 N, the change in strain was linear. As a result of theoretical research, it was found that the developed system with fiber-optic sensors based on Bragg gratings embedded in composite materials is resistant to external influences and temperature changes.

The main purpose of this article is to study the structural characteristics of carbon fiber samples printed on a 3D printer, including embedded sensors, during 3D printing, through numerical and experimental studies. There is a widespread tendency to replace metals with modern composite materials. Various methods can be used to measure the destruction of the composite structure. Fiber Bragg array sensors are known as intelligent localized and global structural condition prediction devices for all kinds of structural applications, especially those using composite materials. In this work, we created control plates by impregnating a selected number of layers of carbon fabric with epoxy resin. Fiber-optic Bragg sensors were additionally located between the layers of carbon fabric. In the course of experimental studies, a fiber Bragg grating sensor was embedded in the middle of the sample, and a second sensor was attached to the finished surface of the sample. We conducted environmental tests to examine the durability of the additively manufactured standard’s components and the impact of integrated sensors on the composite sample. We applied the concept of equations, known as conjugate modes, and used the transition matrix method to solve them numerically. The scientific novelty of the work is the development of a new method and technology for measuring spatial deformation in composite materials using fiber-optic Bragg gratings.
