    Education in the modern society is in need for new and more efficient pedagogical technologies. The development of individual qualities becomes the most important mission of education. However, graduates of educational institutions for the most part do not have sufficiently formed personal qualities. It is necessary to create due conditions for the development of individual personality traits, such as: adaptation to life situations, acquiring knowledge independently, the ability to apply it in practice; being able to think critically, to identify problems and select the necessary solution rationally and competently; working competently with information; sociability, being able to work in a team. The relevance of the issue under investigation in the conditions of digital education becomes an important tool for extensive access to adaptive learning at higher educational establishments. The trends in adaptive learning systems will make it possible to transform the educational system, helping students to learn more efficiently. In order to achieve this goal, the following tasks need to be addressed: to make analysis of scholarly pedagogical literature focused on the adaptive learning model; to select and analyse the material for the realisation of the adaptive learning model.

    COMPETENCE-BASED APPROACH IN THE FORMATION OF INTERCULTURAL-COMMUNICATIVE COMPETENCE IN FOREIGN LANGUAGE TEACHING
    The main aim of learning a foreign language is the development of students foreign language communicative competence which will allow them to integrate as much as possible into the international professional community. This is an important condition for the social adaptation of students to modern life. In the context of the transition from a knowledge-based approach to teaching to a competency-based approach, a change in value orientations, the teacher needs new methods and technologies that allow the teacher to identify the student’s knowledge, update it, add what is missing, structure the training material, and teach not only to remember and reproduce, but put them into practice. Methods that organize learning through desire, stimulate students' learning and natural curiosity, motivate interest in the independent acquisition of knowledge. The article deals with the role and importance of applying a new "competence-based approach" in the formation and developing students’ intercultural and communicative competence in teaching foreign language. The authors give explanations to such concepts as "competence" and "competency", as well as "competence approach".

    ASSESSING TEACHERS’ MEDIA LITERACY COMPETENCIES IN SECONDARY EDUCATION
    (Ablai Khan University, 2024-12-01) ;
    M.Kh. Tankibayeva
    This article explores the evolution of teacher training methodologies and competencies in the digital era, with a focus on the integration of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). Traditional teaching models that positioned teachers as sole authorities have gradually shifted towards student-centered and communicative approaches, emphasizing psychological well-being, interpersonal skills, and socio-cultural awareness. Teacher competencies now encompass a blend of linguistic, pedagogical, interpersonal, cultural, organizational, and ICT skills. ICT tools, such as Microsoft Teams and Power BI, have revolutionized teacher-student communication and facilitated data analysis in applied linguistics. Language corpora, as textual databases, support self-directed learning and improve the teaching process by enabling teachers and students to work with authentic linguistic data. These advancements make teaching more dynamic, efficient, and engaging. The research highlights the importance of integrating ICT into teacher training programs to prepare educators for modern classroom demands. The findings suggest that developing ICT competencies and leveraging technological tools significantly enhance the effectiveness of teacher training and professional communication.

    STAKEHOLDER PERCEPTIONS OF NEW MEDIA’S IMPACT ON ENGLISH SKILLS AND MEDIA LITERACY: A CASE STUDY OF ONE SCHOOL
    (Toraighyrov University, 2025-03-28) ;
    Ardak Amangeldi
    ;
    M. Serpen
    This case study investigates stakeholder perceptions of new media’s influence on English language proficiency and media literacy within a school, focusing on insights from teachers, students, parents, and school administrators. The study addresses two core questions: how stakeholders perceive new media’s impact on students’ English skills, and the roles and challenges of media literacy in enabling students to navigate digital content effectively. Employing a qualitative case study approach, data were gathered through focus group interviews involving 11 school-leavers, their parents, four EFL teachers, and the school’s principal and vice-principal, enabling nuanced discussions and multifaceted perspectives. Additionally, a web-based questionnaire, completed by 60 participants, provided supplementary insights that enriched the overall findings. Results reveal that while new media is perceived as a catalyst for autonomous learning, its unmoderated use can lead to excessive reliance, which may impede the development of essential cognitive skills, such as critical thinking and creativity. Notably, the ability to distinguish fact from opinion emerged as the lowest competency among students, underscoring a critical gap in current media literacy efforts. The study advocates for a balanced integration of digital tools in educational settings, recommending structured media literacy curricula and enhanced teacher training. Future research will extend this exploration through targeted interventions measuring the impact of digital media on English language competencies and media literacy in diverse educational contexts. Keywords: media literacy, competencies, new media, teacher development, secondary education.

    Scientific principles of information-activity-based learning in university natural science disciplines

    The article is dedicated to the analysis and conclusions of a research project conducted by the physics departments of Kazakhstani universities from 2018 to 2025. The outcomes of the study were driven by the need to develop specific methodologies for organizing practical sessions, laboratory work, independent study (ISR), and independent study with instructor support (ISRS), all oriented toward a training model aimed at creating a learning environment that not only fosters the development of subject-related competencies but also cultivates the personal qualities of future professionals. In this context, the department developed methodological foundations for teaching the physics course based on a professional activity model across various fields. The experience of integrating informational and activity-based approaches in this work relies on both the recognition of the need for the informatization of education and the activity-based approach to learning. While informatization focuses on incorporating information and communication technologies into the educational process, the activity-based approach empowers students to develop their own potential by finding individual pathways to knowledge and progressing independently through educational stages. This is possible only with appropriately structured educational activities. This study demonstrates that the formation and assimilation of fundamental concepts and laws of physics by students can be achieved through specially organized informational and cognitive activities. The logic behind organizing such activities during instruction is interdependent with the structure and content of the learning material. The methods used to study physical laws, their comprehension, and the acquisition of problem-solving techniques become methods of informational and cognitive activity for students.
