Тип записи:Публикация, Cross-cultural data on romantic love and mate preferences from 117,293 participants across 175 countries(Nature Portfolio, 2025-07-01) ;Marta Kowal ;Piotr Sorokowski ;Biljana Gjoneska ;Katarzyna PisanskiGerit PfuhlPsychological studies on close relationships have often overlooked cultural diversity, dynamic processes, and potentially universal principles that shape intimate partnerships. To address the limited generalizability of previous research and advance our understanding of romantic love experiences, mate preferences, and physical attractiveness, we conducted a large-scale cross-cultural survey study on these topics. A total of 404 researchers collected data in 45 languages from April to August 2021, involving 117,293 participants from 175 countries. Aside from standard demographic questions, the survey included valuable information on variables relevant to romantic relationships: intimate, passionate, and committed love within romantic relationships, physical-attractiveness enhancing behaviors, gender equality endorsement, collectivistic attitudes, personal history of pathogenic diseases, relationship quality, jealousy, personal involvement in sexual and/or emotional infidelity, relational mobility, mate preferences, and acceptance of sugar relationships. The resulting dataset provides a rich resource for investigating patterns within, and associations across, a broad range of variables relevant to romantic relationships, with extensive opportunities to analyze individual experiences worldwide.Цитирования (OpenAlex) 6Цитирования (OpenCitations) 3 - Некоторые метрики заблокированы вашиминастройками согласия

Тип записи:Публикация, Higher Education Leadership Agency in Mainstreaming Gender Equality: Insights From Universities in KazakhstanABSTRACT This qualitative study explores the perspectives of senior leadership on gender equality within higher education institutions (HEIs) in Kazakhstan, addressing a gap in the literature on the agency of senior leaders in mainstreaming gender equality in post‐Soviet contexts. Kazakhstan is a significant case due to its high ranking on gender indicators in Central Asia and its unique blend of modernization and traditional gender discourses. We interviewed 13 leaders across 10 universities to analyze how they perceive the relationship between gender and education and their potential role in advancing gender equality. Utilizing Butler's theory of performativity, our analysis reveals that senior leaders disregard structural or institutional gender‐related concerns. They tend to uphold and embody traditional gender norms and attribute existing gender inequalities to cultural norms which limit their agency. While leaders acknowledge the role of higher education in promoting gender equality, they perceive gender issues as resistant to change, which creates obstacles to effective gender mainstreaming. The findings provide insights into reimagining gender mainstreaming strategies in HEIs in post‐Soviet contexts and beyond.Цитирования (OpenAlex) 13Цитирования (OpenCitations) 9 - Некоторые метрики заблокированы вашиминастройками согласия
Тип записи:Публикация, Gender Perspectives in Higher Education: Enhancing Gender Studies in Kazakhstan(Journal of Social Studies Education Research, 2025-03-28); ; ; Gulzira YestekovaThis study examines the integration of gender studies into Kazakhstan’s higher education curricula, emphasizing their effectiveness, teaching methods, and challenges in fostering gender awareness and equality. Utilizing a qualitative research design, the study combines content analysis of over 5,000 active educational programs with in-depth interviews with faculty experienced in teaching gender studies in Kazakhstan. Twenty-nine universities across the country offer 98 gender-related courses, reflecting the growing commitment of Kazakhstan’s higher education system to addressing gender issues through academic programs. The research identifies various undergraduate, graduate, and Ph.D. course offerings, emphasizing an interdisciplinary approach that includes sociology, psychology, linguistics, and management, among other fields. The study findings also highlight several challenges, such as the lack of standardized curricula, limited resources, inconsistent institutional support, and cultural resistance to specific sensitive topics, including radical feminism. Faculty interviews underscore the need for professional development in gender/feminist pedagogy and emphasize the importance of the university administration’s support for gender studies programs. This study contributes to global discussions on gender studies education by shedding light on Kazakhstan’s unique challenges and opportunities. While limited by its focus on certain universities and several educators, the study provides a foundation for future research on the long-term impacts of gender studies education in Kazakhstan. Addressing these challenges could advance gender equality initiatives and foster broader societal transformation, emphasizing the critical role of gender studies courses in achieving an equitable future. - Некоторые метрики заблокированы вашиминастройками согласия
