Тип записи:Публикация, Cultural memory and the transformation of traditional values in Post-Soviet Kazakhstan: a hybrid model of national identity(Frontiers Media, 2026-05-29) ;Raimbek Zeinullin ;Gulzer Dauletova; ;Saniya EdelbaySevinj V. AskerovaThis study examines the transformation of cultural memory and traditional values in Post-Soviet Kazakhstan as a key component of national identity reconstruction. The main objective is to identify the mechanisms through which cultural memory preserves traditional values and reinterprets them within contemporary socio-cultural contexts. The research is based on a qualitative design and analyzes a corpus of materials from 1991 to 2024, including state programs, cultural texts, and epic heritage, notably the Rukhani Zhangyru program and the Koblandy Batyr epic. Data was examined using discourse analysis, thematic coding, and symbolic-interpretive methods. The findings demonstrate that cultural memory in Post-Soviet Kazakhstan functions not only as a mechanism for preserving historical experience but also as a dynamic system that adapts traditional values to modern social conditions. State discourse, the education system, and media are identified as key institutional mediators that reinterpret and transmit cultural values. In addition, epic heritage is recontextualized in contemporary cultural space, acquiring new symbolic and social functions. The study argues that the interaction between tradition and modernization leads to the emergence of a hybrid model of national identity. This model ensures continuity with the past while enabling adaptation to current societal demands. The findings contribute to a better understanding of cultural transformation processes in Post-Soviet societies and propose an integrative analytical framework for studying cultural memory and national identity. - Некоторые метрики заблокированы вашиминастройками согласия
Тип записи:Публикация, The Psychology of “Awakening” in Turkic Poetry: Transformation of Consciousness and Identity(Vesnu Publications, 2026-09-01) ;Almas Naimanbaev; ;Zhanakul Sametova ;Kydyr ToraliGulzhan RashevaObjective: This study examined the motif of “awakening” in Turkic poetry as a psychocultural process through which individual consciousness, historical memory, cultural identity, and collective self-understanding are symbolically reconfigured. Methods and Materials: A qualitative comparative literary design was used. Selected poetic and prose-literary texts from Ottoman-Turkish, Azerbaijani, Kazakh, Kyrgyz, Tatar, and Uzbek traditions were examined through close textual reading, thematic analysis, stylistic interpretation, and historical-comparative contextualization, with particular attention to the Jadid and related enlightenment movements. Findings: Across the selected traditions, awakening repeatedly emerged through contrasts such as sleep–wakefulness, darkness–light, ignorance–knowledge, silence–voice, and dependence–freedom. Although its local forms differed, the motif consistently linked personal transformation with collective renewal, language preservation, education, historical memory, and national identity. In early twentieth-century poetry, these symbolic oppositions frequently converted literary discourse into a vehicle for social reflection and cultural mobilization. Conclusion: The awakening motif functions as more than a recurrent literary image: it operates as a shared psychocultural framework for representing transformation of consciousness and identity across the Turkic world. Its durability reflects the continuing role of poetry in preserving cultural memory and articulating aspirations for intellectual, spiritual, and social renewal. - Некоторые метрики заблокированы вашиминастройками согласия
Тип записи:Публикация, Dance, ontology, and national identity in the metamodern cultural paradigmThe contemporary cultural landscape reveals a growing crisis in postmodern interpretations of national culture, which tend to emphasize fragmentation, relativism, and the deconstruction of stable meanings. While such approaches have enriched critical cultural theory, they frequently neglect the corporeal, experiential, and affective dimensions through which national identity is sustained. Within this context, dance emerges not merely as an aesthetic or performative practice but as an ontological mode of cultural existence through which collective meanings are generated, transmitted, and renewed. Drawing on philosophical-ontological, cultural-anthropological, and hermeneutic perspectives, this article examines dance as a corporeal system of cultural memory and historical continuity that operates beyond purely textual or representational models. Using two Central Asian traditions—Uzbek Lazgi and Kazakh Kara Jorga—as illustrative cases, the analysis demonstrates that the metamodern cultural paradigm enables a reconfiguration of traditional dance by oscillating between preservation and innovation, sincerity and reflexivity, continuity and transformation. Rather than reducing traditional dance to folkloric representation, metamodernism reactivates it as a living practice that produces national meaning through bodily presence and performative repetition. By conceptualizing dance as a dynamic process of identity formation rather than a symbolic reflection of culture, the article contributes to dance ontology and cultural identity studies. Crucially, this reconceptualization carries significant implications for cultural sustainability, shifting heritage preservation from static documentation toward the support of living, corporeal practice.
