Features of health competencies of preschool children with intellectual disabilities
An important aspect in teaching children with intellectual disabilities of preschool age is the development of healthy lifestyle skills in them. This article conducted a study of the degree of formation of the cognitive component of health-preserving competence of preschool children with intellectual disabilities. Children aged 5-7 years took part in the study. For the study, a task was selected based on children identifying among various items exactly those things that are used for personal hygiene purposes. Based on the results obtained, conclusions were drawn about the need to carry out correctional and developmental work with preschool children with intellectual disabilities to improve their health-preserving competence.

The aim of this study is to examine the effect of the place of residence on the speech development of preschool children living in an apartment or neighbourhood. In the study, children's speech skills were evaluated using the Expert Assessment Scale of Speech Skills (EASSS) developed by Işık Aydın and Erdem (2022). In this context, 100 students (53 living in an apartment and 47 living in a neighbourhood) were analysed by expert therapists according to the EASSS results. According to these findings, although the EASSS total score frequencies of the participants differed, it was observed that children living in apartments had a significant delay in speech development compared to those living in the neighbourhood (t=-8.488, p<.001, Cohen's d=-2.44). In conclusion, social isolation is thought to be one of the main causes of speech development delay in children living in apartment buildings. Therefore, it is thought that it is important to create common playgrounds to support the language development of children living in these areas.

The purpose of this study is to map the scientific landscape of research on the social and pedagogical conditions that support the adaptation of children with special educational needs to inclusive preschool environments through play based interventions. The analysis covers the period from 1975 to 2025 and is based on metadata from 4,461 journal articles indexed in the Web of Science database. The bibliometric analysis was conducted following the PRISMA framework. The study examined trends in publication growth, author productivity, and the social, intellectual, and conceptual structures of the research field. The main findings reveal that research on the adaptation of children with special educational needs in inclusive preschool environments has steadily increased over the past decades, with particularly strong growth between 2008 and 2012. Publications appear across a wide range of journals, mainly within the areas of educational research, special education, and rehabilitation. Scholars from many regions contribute to this field, with the United Kingdom, Germany, and the United States emerging as leading contributors. The analysis also indicates that the research community is relatively fragmented, consisting of several research groups with limited interaction among them. Overall, the field is interdisciplinary, integrating perspectives from education, medicine, and psychology. Over the past 50 years, major research themes have included nosological aspects of special education, academic achievement and educational outcomes, age related and institutional aspects of special education, early childhood and preschool education, collaboration and partnership in education, conceptual foundations of inclusive pedagogy, and teacher professional competence in inclusive education.

The readiness of preschool teachers to ensure children’s digital safety (DS) is currently one of the overarching challenges for early childhood education (ECE) systems. Unfortunately, developing countries, particularly Kazakhstan, do not necessarily possess the required resources to run preschool educational programs to ensure children’s DS. This study explores pre-service early childhood educators’ (PSECEs) cognitive, affective, and behavioral attitudes toward supporting DS of preschool children. It also considered PSECEs perceptions of their role and responsibility in supporting preschool children’s DS and their readiness to address these issues in their future professional practice. The research adopted a cross-sectional mixed-methods design without instructional intervention. The study was carried out at the Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University in Almaty, Kazakhstan, with 344 participants in the experiment. The findings highlight the interrelated nature of cognitive, affective, and behavioral components of study participants’ attitudes. Study participants had strong affective engagement. However, the results revealed a noticeable imbalance between emotional concern and practical readiness. This research highlighted that DS content in preschool teacher education programs has not kept up to date with global digital advances. Consequently, there is a need to adopt coherent content of practice-oriented approaches to DS in preschool teacher education programs. This paper further extends the body of theory on PSECEs attitudes toward supporting DS of preschool children and provides new insights into the educator candidates’ cognitive, affective, and behavioral attitudes.

Dialogic speech development in preschool children with speech and language underdevelopment is a significant area of research because of its close relationship with communication, literacy, and school readiness. However, the global scientific landscape and thematic evolution of this field have not been systematically examined. This study aimed to analyze international research trends in dialogic speech development among preschool children with speech and language underdevelopment through a bibliometric analysis of publications indexed in the Scopus database between 2005 and 2025. A bibliometric research design based on a systematic literature search and selection process following the PRISMA 2020 guidelines was employed. A total of 190 English-language research articles were analyzed using VOSviewer to examine publication trends, author productivity, geographical distribution, subject areas, keyword co-occurrence, source co-citation, and international scientific collaboration. The findings indicate sustained scientific interest in dialogic speech development despite fluctuations in annual publication output. Research activity is concentrated primarily in the United States and the United Kingdom and is grounded in speech-language pathology, developmental psychology, education, linguistics, and communication sciences. Keyword co-occurrence analysis revealed three main themes: speech and language development, narrative competence and clinical intervention, and storytelling in preschool education. Source co-citation analysis further revealed that the field’s intellectual structure is dominated by clinical and psycholinguistic paradigms, whereas culturally grounded narrative traditions and folklore-based educational approaches remain comparatively underrepresented. These findings provide a comprehensive overview of the field and highlight the need for future interdisciplinary research integrating narrative-based interventions with culturally responsive pedagogical practices and culturally grounded storytelling traditions, including Kazakh folk tales, within inclusive early childhood education.
