Тип записи:Публикация, A Study of the Processes of Desertification at the Modern Delta of the Ili River with the Application of Remote Sensing Data(Polish Society of Ecological Engineering, 2021-02-10) ;Shakhislam Uzakbaevich Laiskhanov ;Maksat Nurbaiuly Poshanov ;Zhassulan Smanov; The water regime is the main factor contributing to the formation of landscapes in the river deltas of arid zones, any fluctuations in which lead to a change in the integral hydromorphic landscape. After the construction of the Kapshagai reservoir, the anthropogenic load on the ecosystem of the Ili River delta increased, as a result of which degradation processes, such as drying out and salinization, intensified. In the short term, this phenomenon may lead to the desertification of about 1 million ha of land in the modern river delta. In this regard, the main goal of this study is to look at the processes of desertification in the modern delta of the Ili River, using remote sensing data, which allows for quick identification of the long-term dynamics of degradation processes. For this, the authors used satellite data from Landsat 1-5 MSSS and Landsat 8OLI satellites for 1979 and 2019 and soil analysis data obtained through the ground (field) surveys.Using regression analysis of space and soil data, predictors for interpreting space images were identified and maps of landscape drying and soil salinization were compiled, reflecting the changes that have occurred over the past 40 years. As a result, it was found that in 2019, compared to 1979, the area of landscapes covered with vegetation had decreased by 12% and there was a transformation of hydromorphic landscapes into salt marshes and solonetzes.Over the past 40 years, the volume of non-saline soils has decreased by 41.3% and the volume of saline soils has increased to varying degrees. That is, at present, on the territory of the modern delta, a difficult land improvement situation has developed associated with the cessation of spring and summer floods due to the intensive water use at the Chinese and Kazakh sides.Цитирования (OpenAlex) 13Цитирования (OpenCitations) 10 - Некоторые метрики заблокированы вашиминастройками согласия
Тип записи:Публикация, Mapping of Cornfield Soil Salinity in Arid and Semi-Arid Regions(Polish Society of Ecological Engineering, 2022-11-30) ;Zhassulan Smanov ;Shakhislam Uzakbaevich Laiskhanov ;Maksat Nurbaiuly Poshanov ;Yerzhan Rakhimkeldievich AbikbayevС.Н. ДуйсековSoil salinization and their annual increase in volume is not only one of the main problems of arid and subarid regions, but it is becoming global.Studying the problem of salinization and its spatial distribution using operational remote sensing methods is very important for Kazakhstan, where almost half of the agricultural land is exposed to salinization, but it is at the initial stage of development in the use of space technologies of research. The main goal of this study is to conduct a field study of soil salinity in corn fields, one of the most common crops in the arid region of the country, located in the Shaulder irrigated massif, using space-based methods, and to create algorithms for compiling a salinity map based on remote sensing data. For this purpose, firstly, using Sentinel-2 images, the method of separating corn from other dominant crops in the region by creating NDVI dynamics covering all phases of growth of agricultural crops was shown. Then, a regression analysis was performed on soil and vegetation indices calculated using satellite images and data on soil salinity obtained through field studies. As a result of the analysis, the main predictor of deciphering salinized soils was determined.By dividing the predictive image into quartiles, contours of salinized soils were determined and a soil salinity map was created. With the help of the soil salinity map, it was found that, non-saline soils -2912.2ha; slightly saline soils -3288.4ha, moderately saline soils -2615.2ha, and strongly saline soils -1284.3ha in the study area.Цитирования (OpenAlex) 8Цитирования (OpenCitations) 8 - Некоторые метрики заблокированы вашиминастройками согласия
Тип записи:Публикация, UNDERSTANDING THE CONTRIBUTION OF TURKIC PETROGLYPHS TO CULTURAL TOURISM DEVELOPMENT IN CENTRAL ASIA: A SYSTEMATIC AND META-ANALYTIC PERSPECTIVE(Editura Universitatii din Oradea, 2025-10-06) ;Yerlan Issakov; ;Zhulduz Nizamatdinova ;Shakhislam Uzakbaevich LaiskhanovDuman Toktaruli ALIASKAROVThe petroglyphs of Central Asia represent a distinctive form of symbolic and visual heritage that is gaining relevance in scholarly debates on cultural tourism, regional identity, and sustainable development. Although their archaeological importance has long been recognized, their integration into contemporary tourism planning remains conceptually fragmented and underexplored. This study provides a systematic and meta-analytic synthesis of scientific literature concerning petroglyphs in Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan. Through bibliometric analysis, it identifies dominant research themes, leading institutions, and international collaboration networks. The results confirm increasing interest in the educational, symbolic, and experiential tourism dimensions of petroglyphs. However, the review also highlights thematic and geographical imbalances, particularly the underrepresentation of certain regions and a scarcity of robust empirical studies. The meta-analytic component shows a moderate positive effect of petroglyph-based heritage on cultural tourism development. Kazakhstan emerges as the leading academic node in this domain. The study does not attempt to establish causality but seeks to clarify how petroglyphs have been conceptualized in scientific discourse over the past two decades. Bibliometric mapping shows strong correlations between publication volume and heritage-centered national strategies. Research also indicates that digital tools, such as 3D modeling and GIS, are increasingly employed to preserve and interpret petroglyph sites. Despite these innovations, community-based approaches remain limited, signaling the need for greater local engagement. By linking rock art research with tourism studies, digital humanities, and heritage policy, this article outlines potential directions for more inclusive, interdisciplinary, and empirically grounded future research. Ultimately, the findings support the notion that petroglyphs are not only remnants of the past, but dynamic resources for interpreting identity, enhancing tourism sustainability, and fostering cultural continuity within the evolving framework of regional development in Central Asia. These insights may guide policymakers, researchers, and cultural institutions in shaping integrative strategies. Further efforts should aim to connect heritage preservation with inclusive tourism, education, and long-term regional resilience. Strengthening regional cooperation and cross-border heritage initiatives may also amplify the role of petroglyphs in sustainable cultural development.Цитирования (OpenCitations) 1 - Некоторые метрики заблокированы вашиминастройками согласия
Тип записи:Публикация, Scientific and methodological foundations for integrating remote sensing (RS) data into school geography(Frontiers Media, 2026-03-13) ;Shakhislam Uzakbaevich Laiskhanov ;Zhanbolat Nurmagambetuly ;Kulyash Duisenbaevna KAIMULDINOVA ;Duman Toktaruli ALIASKAROVErzhan AbikbaevIn the era of digital transformation, the application of remote sensing (RS) data in geography education and its effective integration into the teaching and learning process has become one of the pressing educational challenges, particularly in fostering students’ spatial thinking competencies. The purpose of the study is to identify the possibilities of incorporating RS data into school geography, to develop an effective teaching methodology based on its application, and to test it in practice. The research employed a review of international publications, surveys, correlation and comparative statistical analysis, modeling, analysis of regulatory documents, and pedagogical experimentation. The survey involved 124 geography teachers from different regions of Kazakhstan, while the experimental study included 52 eleventh-grade students from one secondary school selected through random sampling (26 students in the experimental group and 26 students in the control group). The survey results revealed that 62% of teachers use satellite imagery during lessons; however, 69% of them utilize RS data primarily for visualization purposes. The results of the pedagogical experiment demonstrated that the average academic achievement of students in the experimental group increased by 18.2%, whereas the improvement in the control group was 3.6%. Furthermore, the use of RS data positively influenced students’ geospatial thinking, research skills, and analytical abilities. The study further established that the structural-content model of RS-based teaching materials developed as a result of the research can contribute to improving existing methodologies. The proposed model is designed to modernize school geography curricula, enhance teachers’ methodological capacity, improve students’ learning outcomes, and promote geospatial literacy. The findings of the study demonstrate that the systematic integration of RS data into school geography education can serve as a scientific and methodological foundation for modernizing educational content, fostering students’ contemporary scientific and technological competencies, and improving the overall quality of geographic education.Цитирования (OpenAlex) 1
